A NEW BLACK MAN EMERGES

A new black man emerges
From a cocoon long outgrown
A man of strength and courage
Forged by centuries of struggling on
There’s a new hero on the horizon
Laden with weapons to win any war
His leathered spirit yearns
To engage any foe’s aggressive retort
This blooded champion’s faith is steeled
By believing that ‘right’ is ‘might’
The victory he seeks is rooted
In a vision of freedom through the fight
Fear not this mighty warrior
Where justice and fairness is your call
Regurgitation of past cruelties
Enflames his wrath on all
Who would oppose equality, justice and fair-play
Guard your jeers, your jokes and attitudes
Be careful what you say
The person you are talking to
May decide to emerge today.
