Classic Psychedelic Rock Performer Of Songs Like "Hey Joe," "Purple Haze" And "The Wind Cries Mary," Jimi Hendrix, Was Born November 27, 1942, In Seattle Washington.

Hendrix Was A Talented Guitarist And Vocalist, Known For His Stage Shows During Which He Smashed Guitars, Used Raw Language And Made Sexual Gestures.

He Headed A Band Called The Experience, Which Also Featured Mitch Mitchell And Noel Redding. The Group Performed Together From 1966 To 1969.

In September, 1970, Hendrix Died Of A Drug Overdose In London, England -- A Year After Being Named "Playboy" Magazine Artist Of The Year.
