Crispus Attucks

Crispus Attucks Died On March 5, 1770. The Event, Which Came To Be Known As The Boston Massacre, Marked The Beginning Of American's Fight For Independence From British Rule. In Effect, Attucks Became "The First Martyr Of The American Revolution."

A Run-Away Slave, Attucks Had Been Living In Boston Under The Alias, Michael Johnson. According To Historical Accounts While Carrying A Wooden Club He Taunted The Redcoats. He Grabbed A Bayonet, Aiming To Strike A Soldier. The Man, Who Was Cornered, Became Frightened And Fired His Gun At Attucks And Into The Crowd.

Attucks And Four Other Men Were Killed During In The Insurrection. The Crispus Attucks Monument In Boston Was Dedicated In 1888, Commemorating Those Who Died During The Boston Massacre.
